Staff turnover

The request was successful.

Dear Abbey Hey Primary Academy

Please send me the overall staff turnover rate (teaching and non-teaching), including staff with either full-time or part-time contracts, at Abbey Hey Primary Academy. It would be helpful if you used the following formula:

(total number of leavers during the last twelve months)
divided by
(average total staff over the period [start headcount and end
headcount divided by two])

Please include all staff appointed directly or indirectly by United Learning Trust, or the previous governing body, with cost code Abbey Hey Primary Academy, or equivalent, comprising those on permanent or temporary contracts excluding agency cover.

Include staff who have left voluntarily and also those who have left involuntarily due, for example, to the culmination of their contract, dismissal or redundancy and as a result of retirement. Do not include staff leaving one post to immediately take on another
position at the academy.

Also, please send me the following measure of staff retention from the date this request is received. For this stability index, use the following calculation:

(number of staff with service of one year or more in current post x
100)
divided by
(total number of staff in post one year ago)

I would be grateful if you could also supply numbers of teaching and non-teaching staff:
1/ total headcounts at the start and end of the period,
2/ average headcount (start headcount and end headcount divided by two) and
3/ number of leavers over the period.

Yours sincerely

Peter D Williams

This FOI request will feature in later research about reasons requestees fail to respond, or fail to respond within the statutory timescale, or fail to respond fully.

Sent request to Abbey Hey Primary Academy, Manchester again, using a new contact address.

For the attention of Karin Connell, Chair of Governors
Abbey Hey Primary Academy

Dear Karin Connell

Following my faxed letter of 2 October 2015 to Paul Graham to which, regretfully, he has not acknowledged or replied to, I am writing to request an internal review of Abbey Hey Primary Academy’s handling of my Freedom of Information request, 'Staff turnover’, of 18 July 2015.

There has been an inordinate and unlawful delay in responding to this request made via WhatDoTheyKnow.com.

I can demonstrate my request was received. Our email server received a response from the server used by Abbey Hey Academy indicating the message was received shortly after it was sent. The log line showing a "250" response, which is the code for "OK", is recorded along with an internal ID allocated to the message by your server:

(... 33.167.27]:25 X=TLS1.2:RSA_ARCFOUR_SHA1:128 CV=no DN="C=US,ST=California,L=Mountain View,O=Google Inc,CN=mx.google.com" C="250 2.0.0 OK 1437247284 eb5si4372748wic.46 - gsmtp" QT=0s DT=0s).

I am sending you by separate cover a document issued by the Ministry of Justice about the statutory internal review procedure I am asking you to carry out, and an exemplary response from another academy to help whoever at Abbey Hey is given the task of putting together a response.

If my FOI request continues to receive a nil response, I will refer the matter to the Information Commissioner to obtain a Decision Notice which is sometimes termed an Enforcement Notice.

Yours sincerely

Peter Williams
