Staff turnover

The request was successful.

For the attention of Joseph Turner-Wing, School Business Manager
Charlton Manor Primary School (100164)

Dear Joseph Turner-Wing

*Financial Accountability and Freedom of Information*

The Freedom of Information Act is successfully being used to obtain information from schools and academies throughout England and Wales to calculate schools' rates of staff turnover and retention.

I would be most grateful if you could supply numbers of (i) teaching staff and (ii) non-teaching staff at Charlton Manor Primary School as follows:

1/ total headcounts of staff on (i) 1 September 2013 and (ii) 1 September 2014;

2/ total headcounts of staff on (i) 31 August 2014 and (ii) 31 August 2015;

3/ number of leavers between (i) 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 and (ii) between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015;

4/ the number of staff with more than one year’s service as at (i) 1 September 2014 and (ii) 1 September 2015.

Please include all staff appointed directly or indirectly by the governing body comprising those on permanent or temporary contracts excluding agency cover.

Include staff who have left voluntarily and also those who have left involuntarily due, for example, to the culmination of their contract, dismissal or redundancy and as a result of retirement. Do not include staff leaving one post to immediately take on another position at the academy

The staff turnover rate for each year ending 31 August will be calculated using the following formula:

(total number of leavers during the twelve month period)
divided by
(average total staff over the period [start headcount and end headcount divided by two])

The measures of staff retention (stability indices) for 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 will be calculated as follows:

(number of staff with service of one year or more in current post at the beginning of the succeeding period [on 1 September])
divided by
(the total number of staff in post at the beginning of the period [on 1 September])

Thank you for your precious time.

Yours sincerely

Peter Williams

On 8 April 2016 I wrote to the Chair of Governors at Charlton Manor Primary School by separate email informing him of a possible internal review request if the school continued not to respond.
Later in the day, I received a reply from the School Business Manager apologising for the delay and saying he would give the request his attention when school reopens after the Easter break.
