The request was successful.

For the attention of Jo Appleyard, Executive Principal
Financial Accountability and Freedom of Information, Elmridge Primary School (138654)

Dear Jo Appleyard

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 is successfully being used to obtain information from schools throughout England and Wales to calculate each school’s rate of staff turnover and staff retention for statistical analysis.

Here is my request:

I would be most grateful if you could supply numbers of (i) teaching staff and (ii) non-teaching staff at Elmridge Primary School as follows:

1/ total headcounts of staff on (i) 1 September 2013 and (ii) 1 September 2014;

2/ total headcounts of staff on (i) 31 August 2014 and (ii) 31 August 2015;

3/ number of leavers between (i) 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 and (ii) between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015;

4/ the number of staff with more than one year’s service as at (i) 1 September 2014 and (ii) 1 September 2015.

Please include all staff appointed directly or indirectly by the governing body comprising those on permanent or temporary contracts excluding agency cover. Include staff who have left voluntarily and also those who have left involuntarily due, for example, to the culmination of their contract, dismissal or redundancy and as a result of retirement. Do not include staff leaving one post to immediately take on another position at the school.

The staff turnover rate for each year ending 31 August will be calculated using the following formula:

(total number of leavers during the twelve month period)
divided by
(average total staff over the period [start headcount and end headcount divided by two])

The measures of staff retention (stability indices) for 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 will be calculated as follows:

(number of staff with service of one year or more in their current post on the first day of the succeeding period [on 1 September])
divided by
(the total number of staff in post at the beginning of the period [on 1 September the previous year])

Thank you for your precious time.

Yours sincerely

Peter D Williams

For the attention of Paul Riley, Chair of Governors
Elmridge Primary School (138654)

Dear Paul Riley

Following my Freedom of Information request, 'Staff turnover', I am informing you I will shortly be requesting an internal review of Elmridge Primary School's handling of my request because of the delay I am experiencing in receiving a response.

I can demonstrate my request was received by your email server. Our server received a response from the server used by Elmridge Primary School indicating the message was received shortly after it was sent. The log line showing a "250" response, which is the code for "OK", is recorded and given an id by your server at lunchtime on Monday 29 February 2016.

(2016-02-29 12:54:29... CN=mail.protection.outlook.com" C="250 2.6.0 <[email address]> [InternalId=43563853294891, Hostname=AM" QT=2s DT=1s)

I am writing to you separately attaching a document issued by the Ministry of Justice about the statutory internal review procedure I may ask you to carry out should I continue to receive no response, and I have also attached an exemplary response from another academy to help whoever at Elmridge is given the task of putting together a response.

Thank you for your precious time.

Yours sincerely

Peter D Williams
