The City of London (CoL) acknowledges receipt of your request for information of 21 March 2023.

Public authorities are required to respond to requests within the statutory timescale of 20 working days beginning from the first working day after they receive a request. The Act does not always require public authorities to disclose the information which they hold.

The FOIA applies to the CoL as a local authority, police authority and port health authority. The CoL is the local and police authority for the "Square Mile", ie the historic City of London, and not for London as a whole. What is Cycle To Work?

 

‘Cycle To Work’ is a government initiative which offers the most
cost-effective way of getting new cycling equipment. The scheme is run
through participating employers, meaning you do not have to pay tax or
national insurance on these products – saving up to 42%! The reduced cost
is then simply deducted from your payslip over an agreed period.

 

The conditions of the scheme requires that the bike is used mainly (at
least 50% of use) for 'qualifying journeys', ie commuting to work, or in
the course of work. Anyone joining the scheme will have to meet this
condition.

 

What does the scheme offer?

Staff can get bikes (including e-bikes) and/or accessories up to £3000.
Once the application is approved, the voucher can be used at Halfords,
Tredz (online retailer) or at a participating independent cycle shop.

area.

 

8)      Do you have a car user milage scheme? If yes, what does this
entail? HR / Payroll

Yes, The intention of the scheme is to enable employees who are required
to use their own motor vehicles for City of London Corporation business to
be appropriately reimbursed.

 

Chief Officers are responsible for ensuring that journeys made under this
scheme are both necessary and by the most efficient route and means.

 

9)      Do you have a lift share scheme? If yes, what does this entail?

10)     Do you provide a season ticket loan scheme for staff? If yes, is
it interest free? HR / Payroll

 

Yes, Employees may apply for an Annual Season Ticket Loan from the City of
London Corporation to cover their journey between home and the workplace.
The City of London Corporation does not charge interest on the loan.

  

11)     Do you provide a car purchase loan scheme for staff? If yes, is it
interest free? HR / Payroll

  

Yes, Interest is charged (The rate of interest is subject to change and
the rate charged will be the specified rate at the time the loan is
given).
