Staff on pay grade 11

The request was partially successful.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Please tell me how many grade 11 staff the BBC employed in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

For each year
- what was the total wage bill for all grade 11 staff?
- what was the average, median and highest individual salary?
- how many people on grade 11 were on a salary above the ceiling of the grade?

For 2013 please give figures for the most recent available date and planned figures for the year's end.

Yours faithfully,

Spencer Count

Dear FoI enquiries and Ms Currie

I see that in every year more than half have been paid more than the pay grade ceiling. And that in 2013 the average salary is some £5,000 a year above the ceiling of the pay band for London and some £8,000 a year above the ceiling for outside London. Heaven only knows how much the chap on the highest amount is getting.

The numbers on Band 11 are also steadily increasing.

Band 11 is clearly the new "Senior Manager" grade.

I have noticed that the BBC tends to delay when an FoI response could be embarrassing. Still, I thank you for this, even though it was late; much obliged.

Yours sincerely,

Spencer Count
