Thank you for your request, which was received on 4 September, for the following
information:
“Please provide a gross number of HMRC employees, employed year on year, since April
2007.”
Our response
The table below sets out HMRC’s paid workforce at the end of each financial year, starting
at 2007/08 which shows the workforce on 31/03/2008.
This data does not include contractors or people employed by HMRC but currently not being
paid at the time of data capture. Staff in the non-pay category include individuals on unpaid
maternity, unpaid sick leave sick, secondment or career break leave as just a few examples.
