Staff Departures under Non-Disclosure Agreements : "Pension Strain" implications
Dear Newham Borough Council,
This is a further FOI following up on the LBN response( Ref 11009746) to my recent FOI re staff departures under Non-Disclosure Agreements.
In that response LBN stated that from 7th May 2018 to 23rd November 2021 63 stafff had left with Non-Dislosure Agrreements, at a cost of £1, 917, 369.
There is on occasion an additional cost to a Local Authority of paying up the pension contributions of staff aged 55 or over who leave on early retirement ...with a settlement agreement . This payment into the LBN Pension Fund is known as "Pension Strain " . Therefore for example, if someone age 60 was "let go" with a Non-Disclosure Agreement the Council wiould pay into the Pension Scheme monies so that they had a full pension on leaving (as if they had worked until retirement age).
Please can you therefore tell me what was the total cost to the LBN Pension Fund arising from the departure of the 63 staff who left under said Non-Disclosure Agreements ?
