FOI, Sport England

Dear Ms Pall,

Thank you for your recent request for information about the use of sports
centres in the UK. Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in
providing our response on this occasion.

We have now considered your request and I am writing to let you know that
we do not hold the information you have asked for.

Sport England is a public body which aims to increase the number of people
who take part in sport and physical activity on a regular basis. As part
of this work we commission a wide range of research about sport and
physical activity in England but this research does not provide data
specifically about sports centres and does not cover the whole of the
United Kingdom. More information about the research we commission and the
data we make available to the public can be found on our website at the
following link:

In addition, we publish a number of case studies about the sports centres
we have invested which may be useful to you by way of background
information. These case studies are available at the link below:

This completes our response to your information request.

As a public body, Sport England is subject to the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and this means that you may complain if you are happy
with the way we have handled your information request. If you would like
to make a complaint about our handling of your information request please

Please describe your original request, explain your grounds for
dissatisfaction and include an address for correspondence. We aim to
complete internal reviews within twenty working days.

If you are not content with the outcome of our internal review you have
the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner for a decision.
Generally speaking the Information Commissioner cannot consider an appeal
unless you have first exhausted the internal review procedure provided by
