Spending Data over £500 for LGA and companies within the LG Group

Chris Taggart made this Freedom of Information request to Local Government Association

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Local Government Association,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 I would like to request the following information:

Spending data for the financial year 2009/10 for the Local Government Association and all companies and organisations within the LGA group. Specifically I would like all transactions over £500 as per your guidance to councils at http://lgtransparency.readandcomment.com/ and in the same machine-readable format and to the same standards.

If this information is held by an outside contractor then it is your responsibility under the FOIA to obtain that information.

If the arrangements for any of the agreements with the Publisher have been delegated or passed onto another public body, please can you inform me of this and if possible transfer the request to that public body.

If you need any clarification of this request or if it is too broad in any way please feel free to email me. If some parts of this request are more difficult to answer than others please release the answerable material as it is available rather than hold up the entire request for the contested data.

If FOI requests of a similar nature have already been asked could you please include your responses to those requests. I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this request, and I look forward to hearing from you within the 20-working day statutory time period.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Taggart

Dear Local Government Association,
Re: Case ENQ-155624-23BC

I have not yet received a response to this Freedom of Information request. I believe you should have responded promptly, and within 20 working days, i.e. by 29 October 2010.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Taggart

Local Government Association

Dear Mr Taggart

Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (FOIA) on 1st October 2010.

Please note that the Local Government Association (LGA) and its associated
organisations are not covered by the provisions of the Act, but we always
try to deal with such requests within the spirit of the legislation. I am
replying to your request on behalf of the LGA, Local Government
Improvement and Development [formerly the Improvement and Development
Agency (IDeA)], Local Government Employers (LGE), Local Government
Leadership (formerly the Leadership Centre) and Local Government
Regulation [formerly the Local Authorities Coordinators of Regulatory
Services (LACORS)].

We have considered your request for details of spending data for the Local
Government Association and related bodies for the financial year 2009-10.
Unfortunately we need to inform you that the cost of complying with your
request would exceed the appropriate limit in accordance with section 12
of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The appropriate limit is *450 and
the hourly rate is set nationally at *25. We have estimated that the
request you submitted on 1st October 2010 would take longer than 18 hours
for us to process because of the need to source and prepare such a large
amount of information across a number of organisations. Where the
statutory limit would be exceeded we are not required to comply with your
request.

However we have decided to publish this data once we have sufficient
resources to pull together the information and to contact suppliers, where
appropriate, to inform them of our intentions and comply with our data
protection responsibilities. We hope to make the data available before the
end of 2010 and we will let you know when it is published. The format for
publication will be the same as that in which we have already published
similar data for part of 2010-11.

Yours sincerely
