Thank you for your email on 2 August 2019 concerning speed settings on the
M1 J35 – J34 southbound at site address 4620B on 28 July 2019 between
14:00 and 14:30.

The information you have requested we make available to the public on a
regular basis.

Your request has been handled under normal business practices and not in
accordance with the Freedom of Information Act/Environmental Information
Regulations.

 

 

The following refers to settings for site 4620b on the specified date and
time requested:-

14:07 Temporary speed setting of 50mph activated following reports of an
obstruction in the area.

14:40 Temporary speed setting of 60mph was automatically set for
congestion following closure of the reported obstruction incident.

14:49 Signals were clear and national speed limit re introduced on
congestion clearing.

This response is for information only and cannot be used in court for the
purpose of challenging an allegation of a speeding offence.

 

For added information, it is the Police who operate all speed enforcement,
as part of the evidential trail the Police obtain images from the cameras
which show the vehicle travelling under the gantry along with an image of
the displayed temporary speed limit as the vehicle passes the enforcement
site.

If you wanted to check this image, they can be obtained by requesting a
copy from the relevant Police Camera Partnership.
