Spectrum 10K changes to grant application and study protocol

Panda Mery made this Freedom of Information request to University of Cambridge Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was partially successful.

Dear University of Cambridge,

The Spectrum 10K, officially titled 'Common Variant Genetics of Autism and Autistic Traits (GWAS) Consortium' admininstered by the University of Cambridge and whose PI is Simon Baron-Cohen has published a 'Spectrum 10K Themes and Responses to Questions' (https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5...).

Section 2 of that document mentions:
'2. Why aren’t the aims on the website exactly the same as stated in the grant?
Our grant application was written long before we created our website, and some aspects of our thinking about the study evolved after early documents were written, such as the decision to include measures of wellbeing, following consultation with our existing Advisory Panel of autistic people, carers and autism professionals.'

and section 62 of that documents mentions:
'We incorporated the feedback of our Advisory Panel into the creation of the Spectrum 10K study protocol, which is the manual that the research team will follow as they carry out the study.'

Considering this context please provide:

a) all the documents held by Cambridge University in relation to the discussions with the Wellcome Trust about agreeing additions and changes to the grant application (reference 214322/Z/18/Z sent in response to my earlier request https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/f...), some of which are listed above. And

b) the Spectrum 10K study protocol.

Yours faithfully,

Panda Mery

Dear University of Cambridge,

Thank you for sending the S10K study protocol.

I assume you do not hold information about discussions with the Wellcome Trust about agreeing additions and changes to the grant application as the S10K team may wait until the end of the consultation process to further engage with its funder about changes. Hopefully the S10K team will proactively publish that information when this happens.

Yours faithfully,

Panda Mery
