Dear Ben

Further to your request for information about Special Educational Needs, I
can tell you the following:

1. Who is primarily responsible for all Special Educational Needs within
the local authority?
Each school is responsible for SEN, however there is also a Head of
Service within the Local Authority who is responsible for the centrally
maintained SEN support services.

2. Do you have an SEN or SENCO/Inclusion Manager, if so what is their name
and contact details?

Each school or Federation of Schools has a SENCO or Inclusion Manager. The
individual schools would be able to supply this information.

3. Does the authority currently manage SEN and have a system for managing
SEN assessments and statements?

The Local Authority is responsible for managing SEN Statutory
Assessments.  I am unclear what the question is looking for in terms of a
“system”.  We follow the guidance set out by the SEN Code of Practice.  We
track the progress using a variety of spreadsheets, boards and the Capita
ONE Database.

4. If so which system do you use?

See the answer to Question 3

You may contact the schools using the contact details in the school
directory which is attached.
