Hi Drew

Thanks for your request regarding land plans for NSIPs on our website.
Firstly, apologies for the delay getting back to you, this request was
forwarded to a member of our team who was recently on leave for a
prolonged period. We have put a new measure in place to prevent this from
happening again in the future.

With regards to your request, I believe that you are asking for a map
showing all (current?) NSIPs marked on one map. I’m afraid that this is
not something that we hold and under the FOI Act we are not required to
create any new files/documents on request, only to share what we do
already hold.

On our website you can find links to all the NSIP projects currently
active, and on each of these (that has reached the relevant stage of the
process) you will be able to find land plans (note that some projects in
the early stages of pre-application won’t have these yet).

If I’ve misunderstood the request at all or you need any further
assistance navigating the website, then do please let me know and we will
be happy to help.

Kind regards

Owen Kelly-Reynolds

Dear Owen,

Thank you for your reply. To clarify, I am asking for spatial data (e.g. shapefiles, geopackages, geojson etc) relating to the extent of NSIP projects, rather than a single map with them all on. I do not wish to manually digitise these from the PDF plans available on the website.

I note that Michael Gove made reference to "spatial data being made available for NSIPs for the first time" in his speech on 19th December (see 52:52 in to this broadcast https://twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1BRJjPa...). Perhaps you would be able to clarify if that is a new undertaking that will require an active project to bring the data I'm asking for into existence, or whether it will be a collation exercise of already existing data.

Yours sincerely,

Drew Hardy

Kelly-Reynolds, Owen, Planning Inspectorate

Hi Drew

Thanks for getting back to me with that further information and the link to Michael Gove's speech. Despite being National Infrastructure data, this is information that is held and delivered by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

A paper was published by DLUHC in November laying out the information relating to the launch of this dataset. You can find the paper here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicatio..., with the specific information relating to your request in section "2. Going Further", "Theme 3".

You will see a link to this tool: https://www.planning.data.gov.uk/. Please note that this is (as mentioned in the article and accompanying footnote) still in development with data being uploaded, so you may not find everything you want on there yet. If there is more information you require, then you will need to speak directly to DLUHC via their FOI contact: [email address]

I hope this helps and do let me know if you have any further queries.

Kind regards

Owen Kelly-Reynolds
