Southend FOI Requests, Southend-on-Sea City Council

1 Attachment

Dear Dr I Lee,

Re: Freedom of Information Request – FOI 13499

I am writing regarding your request for information, which was received on
15^th September 2023.

In that request you asked us for information below:

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act to request the
following information on each secondary school in your borough:

- School Name

- Local Authority Establishment Number (LAESTAB)

- Unique Reference Number (URN)

- The number of children admitted under a distance criterion

- The distance of the furthest child admitted under a distance criterion

I would like this information for the school years 2013/14 through to
2014/15.

I can confirm that the search for the information you requested has been
completed and I can advise you of the following:

• Please see the attached document for the name of all secondary schools
in Southend. Please note that this is the only format we have for this
information for this time period.
• I can confirm that Southend-on-Sea City Council holds the URN for each
secondary school in Southend. However, this information is exempt from
disclosure under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
This is because it is reasonably accessible to you as it can be found
on the DfE website here;
[1]https://www.gov.uk/school-performance-ta....
• I can confirm that Southend-on-Sea City Council holds the URN for each
secondary school in Southend. However, this information is exempt from
disclosure under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
This is because it is reasonably accessible to you as it can be found
on the DfE website here;
[2]https://get-information-schools.service.....
• Please note that these reference numbers are current numbers, and
likely would have been different in the time period specified as these
numbers were bound to change upon the majority of these schools
becoming academies.
• Southend-On-Sea City Council do not hold the information for the
distance of the furthest child admitted under a distance criterion for
the time period specified.

If you wish to discuss any of the above, please contact me. Please
remember to quote the above reference number above in any future
communications.

If you are unhappy with the service you have received and would like a
formal review of our response, you can write to the Information Rights
Support Service via email at [3][email address].

If you are not content with the outcome of your review, you can make a
complaint under the Council’s complaints process by writing to the
Corporate Complaints Team via email at
[4][email address] or via post to Civic Centre,
Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS2 6ER.

You can also apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a
decision although generally the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have
exhausted the Council’s complaints procedure. The Information Commissioner
can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe
House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely,
