Suzanne McGregor

Dear Newcastle upon Tyne City Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Newcastle upon Tyne City Council's handling of my FOI request 'South Gosforth Area: Pollution monitors and their DATA from 2nd July 2020'.

This is because I CANNOT FIND ACTUAL POLLUTION DATA for No 2 (AQMA No 5 200804) Perhaps a member of staff point me to what page it is on if it is there.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Yours faithfully,

Sue Smith

Freedom Of Information Requests Mailbox, Newcastle upon Tyne City Council

Dear Ms Smith,

Thank you for your email of the 16 April 2021 requesting an internal review of FOI 17724. The internal review process is used to ensure that the Council made the right decision on the original request, in the light of all the relevant information. For ease of reference, your original request is shown below.

“South Gosforth Area: Pollution monitors and their DATA from 2nd July 2020

I am requesting:

•The LOCATION of POLLUTION MONITORS in place from 2nd July 2020, relating to the South Gosforth area. They could potentially be on Church Rd, Station Rd, Balmoral Terrace, Windsor Terrace, Sandringham Rd, Audley Rd, Dene Crescent, Haddricks Mill, Stoneyhurst Rd or in some other location not suggested.

•The DATA collected of the 9 pollutants that are required to be monitored, i.e. PM2.5 and PM10 particles, nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), sulphur dioxide (SO2), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), benzene (C6H6), 1, 3 butadiene, carbon monoxide (CO) and lead (Pb) collected from these monitors since 2nd July 2021.”

As part of our Internal Review of the original response, your request was looked at again and on reviewing the response it was noted that the nitrogen dioxide bias adjustment figures have just been published by DEFRA hence 2020's data has yet to be reviewed.

Local authorities across England are in the process of having their air quality annual status reports (AQ ASR) written. AQ ASRs are therefore usually available around June or July.

Newcastle are in the process of getting their report written but until then no data for July 2020 will be available. Once the report is written it will be made available via our website at https://www.newcastle.gov.uk/services/en... where you will find all our previous reports since 2013. We apologise that this was not made clear in the original response.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:

Information Commissioner’s Office,
Wycliffe House,
Water Lane,
Wilmslow,
Cheshire,
SK9 5AF

Yours sincerely,
