The BBC does accept funding for certain special interst groups that require a positive spin on bad news. This does not show in the BBC report and Accounts but EU funding is displayes on EU resources as a benefactor (which the BBC preumerably applies for each year). Another source of hidden incone is its tax arrangemnets with Qatar which is (in effect) its current Landlord in Manchester. The BBC rents off a consortium and does not own Salford Quay. It own its London HQ and sold off 'White City' for luxury development. And that is another source of income that was originally owned and paid by the Olympics committe (date 1920 -1940's ?) and handed over the BBC to run and expand its operations.
