Dear DVLA,
Since you do not have the name of the songs, can you just provide the files themselves (i.e. an .mp3 audio file)?

I imagine you keep copies of these since you still use them.

Yours sincerely,

Manuel B

Hi Manuel!

I found myself wondering the same thing and I was able to recognise the sound of the piece was classical period which left me with a handful of likely composers. Given the predictably basic taste of government when selecting hold music it wasn't difficult in assuming 'Mozart' as the composer. From there is was about finding the piece through its style and purpose. Given the piece heavily features piano I assumed it was a piano concerto. After searching for less than a minute I was able to find that the excerpt is from the 'Andante' movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No.21 in C major.

Regards,
Darren

Hi Darren,

Unfortunately I believe back then the song they were using is different to the one you are mentioning. They must have changed it.

Interestingly since this FOI, the Google app for iOS and Android released a feature that can detect songs by humming them. It would be interesting to know if it would work for these waiting songs.

Best,
Manuel
