Dear Ms Danvers,

I am writing to you with an update on the progress of your Freedom of
Information request which is being dealt with under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.

We are still dealing with your request and I note that we are now overdue
with our response.

In an organisation as large and diverse as a County Council, we often have
to seek information from a wide range of sources when responding to
requests under the Freedom of Information Act and occasionally the amount
of work involved with the request is greater than we anticipate at first.

As a result, I am not able to provide you with the information you are
seeking within the 20 working day timescale that is stated in the Act.  I
am hoping to get this information to you as soon as possible.  I apologise
for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or would
like to discuss the content and progress of your Freedom of Information
request with me.

Dear Ms Danvers,

I am very sorry for the delay in returning our response to you.

I am writing in respect of your recent request for information from
Somerset County Council which has been dealt with under the provisions of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I confirm that we do hold the information you are seeking and we are able
to provide it to you. Our response is detailed in bold underneath your
questions as follows.

Q1.)  Which supplier(s) provides the Council’s education system or
systems? For clarity this is not the school’s system, it is the Education
Management system used by the Council to record admissions, exclusions,
transfers and attendance, transport, personnel management, governors, SEN,
involvements, Early Years etc.

A1.) Capita One.

Q2.) When did the Council go live with this system(s)?

A2.) The system is modular so there was not a single system live date as
each module went live at a different point in time. This was dependent on
availability of the software and the business needs at the time. The first
V4 module went live in 2008, and we have on-going projects running to
implement further V4 modules.

Q3.) What is the length of the contract with the supplier(s)?

A3.) The maintenance contract runs for one year.

Q4.) How much does the Council pay annually in support and maintenance for
this system(s)?

A4.) The amount paid for support, maintenance and hardware this year was
£272,929.18.

you wish to clarify the information given please contact me and I will be
