Solicitors Regulation Authority - Fit For Purpose? ...

We're waiting for Wear_The_Fox_Hat to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Solicitors Regulation Authority,

I refer to Mr Bert Domenic's post/request of 12 February 2023 ('Firms Perverting the Course of Justice') ...

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/f...

Mr Domenic asked are you, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), 'the competent authority' to investigate the failings of the legal profession [your own SRA-regulated
fee-paying 'regulated' members], to which you, the SRA, responded that you are the 'Regulator of Solicitors and Law Firms in England and Wales'.

In addition, in Mr Matt Cooper's post/request of 14 February 2023, ('Complaints received in January 2023') ...

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/c...

One of Mr Cooper's queries was how many complaints you, the SRA, had received about yourselves in January 2023 (currently awaiting a response).

Having subsequently checked on Trustpilot to confirm just how 'competent' the said 'competent authority' is, this was the verdict ...

https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.sra...

The SRA is doubtless(?) aware that, from 247 reviews (as at 07.03.23), the 'Regulator of Solicitors and Law Firms in England and Wales' has a truly shocking and appalling 100% negative rating. Since all of these complainants/victims cannot possibly be wrong, under the SRA's own voluntary Transparency Code ('the Code') that closely reflects the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), my question to the SRA is this - given such unanimous
and fiercely critical ratings (and no replies from the SRA) about its competence as the 'Regulator of Solicitors and Law Firms in England and Wales', is the SRA Fit For Purpose in the valid and legitimate public interest? ... a simple binary answer will suffice - yes? / no?

If your answer is in the affirmative, in the face of such a sustained chorus of disapproval and universal opprobrium from the aforementioned 247 Trustpilot complainants/victims at the hands of your SRA-regulated fee-paying 'regulated' members, please explain HOW you can justify such a claim in the valid and legitimate public interest?

Thanking you.

Yours faithfully,

Wear_The_Fox_Hat.
