Dear East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust,

Please could you provide me with an audited list of soft item consumables (not fluids and drugs) from Emergency Vehicles that have been removed from service because they have either been damaged and cant be used or have expired.

What is the policy about removing the items from frontline service ie is there a minimum time limit eg 6 months before expiry that they are continued to be utalised.

And what method is used for disposal of these expired items- ie are they supplied to charities, training, landfill etc

Yours faithfully,

Roy Davis

foi (EAST OF ENGLAND AMBULANCE SERVICE NHS TRUST),

Dear Roy

Further to your email dated 20th February 2017, and with our apologies for
the delay, please find the Trust's response below.  Your request has been
allocated the following reference: 9835, please could you quote this
reference in any future correspondence with the Trust.

(not fluids and drugs) from Emergency Vehicles that have been removed from

The Trust has looked in to your request and has determined that we do not
hold this type of data, therefore we are unable to respond to your
request. If consumables are out of date then they are removed and disposed
of. The expiry date is on the packaging. Some items are then given to
training school dependent on the item, for training purposes. We do not
record by item what has gone out of date and then disposed of. Disposals
would go through normal waste.

I am obliged to advise you that if you are dissatisfied with the Trust’s
response to your request you have a right to complain to the Trust and
should set out your concerns to the Freedom of Information Officer, EEAST,
Hospital Approach, Broomfield, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 7WS or by email to
[East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust request email]. If you remain dissatisfied following this, you have a
right under Section 50 of the FOIA to seek a determination from the
Information Commissioner on whether the Act has been properly applied by
the Trust. For more information, please see [1]www.ico.gov.uk/

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further
information.

Kind regards
