Social Worker’s Consolation Program Wales

The request was partially successful.

Dear West Glamorgan Regional Partnership Board,

I understand from research that a person who has completed a social work degree has three years to then complete a consolidation program.

I would like to know how a social worker can prove their ability, knowledge or skills within their role.
Would they use a case/family they are working with to demonstrate their capabilities as a merit for completing the Consolidation Program?
Yours faithfully,

Michael Powney, West Glamorgan Regional Partnership Board

Hello Alana

Thank you for contacting Swansea Council regarding a Social Worker’s
Consolation Program

The consolidation of social work practice programme has to be completed by
a newly qualified social worker within their first 3 years of practice in
order to renew their registration.  The programme includes an induction, 4
workshops and 3 study days and learners complete a portfolio consisting of
4 written tasks which demonstrates their practice, critical thinking and
achievement of the 3 Social Care Wales learning outcomes.

Our Practice Learning Coordinator Diane Cooper would be happy to discuss
