Dear Wakefield City Council,
Thank you for your recent reply confirming that the mileage allowance is .25p per mile when Social workers are using personal vehicles for work related business. Could you please advise the date when this was changed from the previous higher rate of around .45p per mile.
Also could you advise how and when Social workers were advised that the rate would be reduced.

Dear Ms Beecroft ,
Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information
I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.
Please find the response to your request below.
The rate was changed with effect from 1 April 2010. There was then a three
month period of pay protection for existing staff where they continued to
receive mileage payments at the older, higher rate until the new rates
became effective for them on 1 July 2010.
All staff affected were informed of the changes in January 2010, by
letter, with supporting documentation about the new rates.
The changes were all achieved through a collective agreement with the
unions and were part of the full pay and grading review which was
undertaken at that time.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries
regarding this matter.
