Social housing/temporary housing need at the borough

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Bedford Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Please provide the information requested below.

1. How many applicants looking for a 3-bed property are currently on the Council's housing waiting list / housing register?

2. How many are general needs, and what is the average waiting period in days for this group from the date of registration?

3. How many are prevention/relief duty owed and what is the average waiting period in days for this group before they're housed from the date they first approached the council?

4. How many are main housing duty owed and what is the average waiting period in days for this group before they're housed from the date they first approached the council?

5. For 2022/23 and 2023/24, please provide the waiting period in days before 3-bed applicants are housed

a) a 3-bedroom applicant in Band A

b) a 3-bedroom applicant in Band B

c) a 3-bedroom applicant in Band C

3. In 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, how many homelessness duty owed families looking for a 3-bed property have been placed in

a) supported or temporary accommodation?
b) nominated for and moved into a private accommodation?
c)Eventually owed main housing duty and housed accordingly

4. For 2023/24, what's the average period spent in temporary accommodation for applicants with children in need of a three-bed accommodation?

5. How many 3-bed properties does the council have at its disposal at the moment? How many are occupied by families?

6. Which hotels and B&B providers does the council work with (if it does) to house homelessness duty owed families looking for a 3-bed property?
