Dear Cheshire West and Chester Council,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Cheshire West and Chester Council's handling of my FOI request 'Social housing application'.
The information I requested was not given.
I asked for the required information. I did not request specific information about a individual case in my name. Why that was a concern I am at a loss.
Please send the requirements needed to process a housing application. I would imagine it would include a name, a means of contact. What else would be required.
For instance, is it a requirement to have a reference from a previous landlord, if so, where is it detailed that's reference is required
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...
Yours faithfully,
gavin dalton
Dear Mr Dalton
We acknowledge your email, but are confused by your request for an internal review.
The only question you posed in your request from 2nd October was
' How many housing applications (applications to be able to bid on your housing portal, jigsaw) were received in last week of June this year'
The housing department provided an answer to your question of '144 housing applications' this is the full and final answer to your question.
If you wish for further information on how to process a housing application or to check on your own housing application it is best that you contact The Council's housing partner Forhousing, who handle this process, the local authority has no direct involvement with this process.
They can be contacted at [email address] or via phone 0300 123 5522
Kind regards

You replied, staying you couldn't find my application.
My request has nothing to do with if I have an application in. It is for the required information from the applicant, and where it is stated that is what you require, any requirements made by local gov and or national gov

Dear Gavin Dalton,
Your request for information of 13 February 2025 which has been logged as
RFI 9302 and has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. We confirm that Cheshire West and Chester Council does hold
information relating to your request, through the attached links seen
below.
For the purpose of clarity your request has been reproduced below with
response.
Basic documents are requested by the system upon applying to come onto the
Housing Register it is dependant on what they have indicated on the
application i.e. children etc.
It has been agreed by the Registered providers that the applicant can be
made live on a band C, they will be allowed to place a bid on some
properties that are open to all bands, however if they have indicated that
they are a homeowner or have convictions for example they would not be
made live in a band C .
Basic docs required to be auto made live include:-
ID (Birth cert, Passport, Driving licence) Proof of address/Local
connection Proof of child benefit /child element UC
If then the customer indicates they have a priority housing need we would
request further evidence depending on what need they have indicated ie
medical, homelessness, ect we would also require a tenancy reference for
any current tenancy and previous social housing tenancy in last 5 years if
they have indicated a priority housing need.
I have also attached a copy of the policy for your reference regarding
band award and eligibility to register ect
