Freedom of Information, Ipswich Borough Council

Dear Requester

Thank you for your email of 13 May 2024, requesting information on Social Care OT waiting list.

Section 8 (1) of The Freedom of Information Act 2000 states:
“In this Act any reference to a “request for information is a reference to such a request which:
(a) Is in writing
(b) States the name of the applicant and an address for correspondence, and
(c) Describes the information requested.”
Under current Information Commissioner’s Office guidance, in order to satisfy Section 8 (1) (b), a requester must provide “enough of their real name to give anyone reading that request a reasonable indication of their identity” (Paragraph 21, ICO, Recognising a request made under the Freedom of Information Act (Section 8), p.7 https://ico.org.uk/media/for-organisatio... ).

I note that your request only provides a first name. Paragraph 25 of the same document states that a first name or surname provided in isolation, or a set of initials, is not sufficient and therefore does not meet the criteria for a Freedom of Information request, as defined above.

For this reason, I cannot process your request further until a full name has been received. Please could you supply a valid full name so that the Council can begin processing your request.
Please note that if we have not received a reply within two calendar months of the date of this email, we will consider the request to be closed.
Kind regards,

The Information Officer
