Smart Motorways - numbers of speeding convictions and policies for applying speed limits

We're waiting for phillip perlin to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

Please provide the following information

a) the number of speeding fines issued on smart motorway locations for each of the last three calendar years available, analysed according to the location of the nearest motorway junction (or other appropriate location information), the speed observed and the speed limit then in force;

b) the length of each smort motorway section in operation in those years and the average traffic flows per hour per section.

c) the number of speeding fines issued on motorways other than smart motorway locations for each of the last three calendar years available, analysed according to the location of the nearest motorway junction (or other appropriate location information), the speed observed and the speed limit then in force;

d) the length of each motorway section other than smart motorways in operation in those years and the average traffic flows per hour per section;

e) a copy of the policies and/or procedures that govern how and when speed limits below the national speed limit are implemented on smart motorways.

The length of each smart motorway section in operation in those years
(last three calendar years available) and the average traffic flows per
hour per section.

                The length of each motorway section other than smart
motorways in operation in those years and the average traffic flows per
hour per section.

 

Attached is a breakdown of motorway sections and length, there is a column
at the far right of the spreadsheet to indicate if that length is a smart
motorway.

 

Information regarding traffic flows is accessible to you via the Debris
service. Under Section 21 of the Act, we are not required to provide
information, which is already reasonably accessible to you.
