I am writing to request an internal review of Ministry of Defence's handling of my FOI request 'Small Arms Replacement'.

Specifically, it has been reported in the press that other calibres for rifles are already being considered, no real attempt to answer this part of my question was made.

I would also like to express my surprise at the suggestion that the SA80 A2 will remain a viable and serviceable weapon as late as 2025 (especially in the numbers required to meet the Armed Forces' needs). To describe this as unrealistic would be my mildest comment. On the basis of what analysis is this projection made?

The response I have received seems to contain an unrealistic assumption, followed by an attempt to fob me off.

Is an unclassified executive summary of the work that has been done publicly available?
