Sky Sabre weapons system

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Ministry of Defence should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Ministry of Defence,

What is the status of the Sky Sabre weapons system (or any weapons system incorporating the Sky Sabre)?

According to a Ministry of Defence release dated 28/5/2018 the weapons system was to be operational in "early 2020" is this the case? Is the system deployed to the Falkland Islands?

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/briti...

What is the status of the Land Ceptor? Which units are equipped with it?

Are serving Royal Navy vessels equipped with the Sea Ceptor system? To what vessels has it been fitted?

If these weapons systems are not yet operational why not?

Yours faithfully,

Marc Goldberg

Dear Ministry of Defence,

By law you should normally have responded to my FOI request by 30 October 2020.

Could you please be in touch

Yours faithfully,

Marc Goldberg

Dear Ministry of Defence,

You're long overdue to respond to my request.

Is there an issue as to why it is taking so long?

Could you please conduct a review to find out and could you please provide answers to the original questions?

Yours faithfully,

Marc Goldberg

CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER), Ministry of Defence

Dear Mr Goldberg,

Thank you for your email of 7 December.

We can confirm that MOD is working hard to provide you with a substantive response to your request, our reference FOI2020/11151. We also acknowledge that MOD has not provided a response within the statutory timescale under section 10 of the Act, for which we apologise. The measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have resulted in some processing delays, and your request is one that has been affected.

We should advise that we would not normally provide an internal review until the substantive response has been issued. We have, however, asked Air Command to provide the substantive response to your request within the next 20 working days i.e. by 21 January 2021.

If you remain dissatisfied on receipt of the substantive response, please contact us again.

Regards,
MOD Information Rights Compliance Team

Dear CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER),

Today is the deadline by which the MoD were supposed to have responded to me yet there has been no response

I would appreciate a response to my questions ASAP

By law, under all circumstances, the authority should have responded by now.

Yours sincerely,

Marc Goldberg

Dear Ministry of Defence,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Ministry of Defence's handling of my FOI request 'Sky Sabre weapons system'.

You have stated already that you wouldn't normally conduct a review until the request has been fulfilled but it doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon so it strikes me as sensible for you to undertake a review to find out what has gone wrong here. In any case it would be good to receive a response to my original FOI request as soon as possible.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Yours faithfully,

Marc Goldberg

CIO-FOI-IR (MULTIUSER), Ministry of Defence

Dear Mr Goldberg,

Thank you for your email.

We regret that until a substantive response to your request for
information has been provided to you, we are unable to conduct a formal
internal review.

We understand that, Air Command are experiencing resourcing issues during
the COVID-19 pandemic, with limited access to the office. The response to
your request has been considerably delayed and while we have asked that
the response is to be provided as soon as possible, we are unable to
provide you with a definitive timeframe for when this will happen.

If you are dissatisfied with the response when it is received, please
contact us again and we will then be in a position to conduct an internal
review.

Under the FOI Act, you have an absolute right to appeal to the Information
Commissioner under the provisions of section 50 of the Act regardless of
whether the public authority concerned has completed an internal review.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and for the delays you have
experienced.

Regards

MOD Information Rights Compliance Team
