Dear J. Y. Tay,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act request, below. We are not
able to tell you the number of students from Singapore that have enrolled
for each of the courses that you have listed below as that would involve
revealing very low numbers and thus risk identifying the individuals
involved. Information is exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of
Information Act, Section 40(2), if it is personal data and releasing the
information would breach one of the data protection principles contained
in the Data Protection Act 2018/General Data Protection Regulations.
Statistical information can amount to personal information if it would be
possible to identify the individual from that information or from that
information and other information that may be available to the recipient
of the information. Where small numbers are involved, the possibility that
the receiver might be able to link the information to an individual is
increased.

We can tell you for each of the past 5 years how many Singaporean students
were enrolled in the Computing Department, this was as follows:

2018/19 19
2017/18 23
2016/17 25
2015/16 20
2014/15 10

If you are unhappy with the way that we have handled your request, you can
ask us to conduct a review. Please make your representation in writing
within 40 days of the date you received this response. If you remain
dissatisfied with how Imperial College has handled your request, you may
then approach the [1]Information Commissioner’s Office.

Yours,

Freedom of Information Team
