London Underground provides Signal Post Telephones (SPT) on the
Metropolitan Line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham to enable other
Train Operators, that are permitted to operate on this part of the
railway, to communicate with the Signaller.
The Train Operating Company which currently uses the SPT’s is Chiltern
Railways. The only other use of the route is by a Network Rail, Rail Head
Treatment Train (to clean the track of leaves/mulch and use the Met Line
as a path to clean Network Rail track on the Met/NR boundary). The train
is operated by DBSchenker Rail who use Connect Radios and therefore do not
require the use of SPT’s

Felicity, this request concerns a line operated by London Underground Limited. LUL do not have NRN and nor will they be installing GSM-R; this only applies to Network Rail lines.

From 1st January 2013 the NRN system south of a line from the Severn to The Wash was switched off - 'mainline' engineers trains after that date will only be fitted with GSM-R when working south of that line, however, they will still retain the NRN (analogue) system for them they work services which start / finish north of that line.
