Dear Mr Booth,

Thank you for your request for the minutes of the SIA Strategic Consultative Group meetings held between 2010 and 2014.

My apologies that I have not provided a response to this request sooner. As these meetings ceased in 2014, it took longer than I had anticipated to locate and retrieve the minutes from these meetings.

Having now reviewed the minutes you have requested, I have found that they contain a great deal of personal data in the form of the list of attendees or the information they provide and opinions they express in the text of the minutes.

It would not be possible to obtain the consent of all the individuals identified in the minutes within the timeframe required to provide the minutes you have requested. It could also not be guaranteed that we would ultimately be able to obtain that consent. In order to comply with the data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), it would therefore be necessary to redact the minutes so that the individuals could not be identified.

Given the volume of the information you have requested, this redaction would take some time to complete. We would of course be happy to do this to meet your request, but so that we can provide the specific information you require as promptly as possible it would be useful if you were able to clarify the exact information you are hoping to receive.

My apologies again that I have not provided a response to your request sooner. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Dear Mr Bodoano,

Thank you for your reply.

Preferably, I am seeking all the minutes: would there be any indication of the time that the redaction process would take?

Yours sincerely,

S.Booth

Good Afternoon Mr Booth,

Thank you for your email. My sincere apologies that I have not responded sooner.

I anticipate that we would be able to provide redacted version of the minutes by the end of new week (i.e. by close of business on Friday 20th October). Would that be acceptable for your purposes?

Kind regards,

Good Morning Mr Booth,

Freedom of Information request - SIA Strategic Consultative Group Minutes
2010-2014

Thank you for your request. I can confirm that the information you have
requested is held by the SIA.

Since my previous response I have had the opportunity to discuss the
minutes with key attendees. It has been confirmed that there was an
expectation that the minutes may be more widely published of which all
attendees were aware. Contrary to my previous response, therefore, we have
concluded that there is in fact no need to redact the personal data in the
form of attendees’ names, statements and opinions.

I have therefore attached the full minutes as requested.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request:

You can ask for an internal review via our contact form:
