SCS-FOI-Mailbox, Enfield Council

Classification: PROTECT - MANAGEMENT

Dear Ms Tyrrell,

Please see the response below to your FOI request dated  28^th August
2015. I can confirm that the London Borough of Enfield holds this
information.

FOI REQUEST

1)            What evidence do you have that the statement is accessible
to families (i.e. unique visitors/ postal reach etc.)?

2)            How often do you review the Short breaks statement? When was
the last time you revised it and for what reason?

3)            How many children have been refused short breaks services
because of eligibility criteria in the last twelve months? How many of
these had an assessment?

4)            How often do you consult families on the content of the
short breaks statement? When did this last happen and how many families
were involved?

5)            What evidence do you have that you deliver short breaks to
children and young people as outlined in your statement?

6)            How many children do you have records of that you consider
to be currently eligible for short breaks?

FOI RESPONSE

1 - Our SBS is part of our Local Offer which is on the LA website.
Between September 2014 and July 2015 the LO has had 22,204 hits

2 - We aim to review our SBS at least annually.  We reviewed and revised
it this year  to reflect the implementation of Short Break Service and
Short Break Activity Grants.

3 - In the past year September 2014 to August 2015 -  8 children were
assessed as not meeting eligibility thresholds, of these 3 went on to have
a Social Care assessment.    Children and families not meeting thresholds
are signposted to other services and support and in particular are
informed about the Local Offer on the Council website.   Families are
referred via an Early Help referral/assessment process and additional
information is gathered as appropriate if referral information is not
sufficient to determine eligibility.

4 - We work with our Parent Forums and through our Children with
Disabilities Partnership Board to ensure pro-active parental engagement.
We consulted with our Parent Forums  regarding the development of Short
Break Grants, this information informed the review of the SBS.
Approximately 100 parents have subsequently been asked for their views
and experience of Short Break Grants.

5 - See the link in our Local Offer to our SB magazine -  Breakaway -
which twice a year details SB activities detailed in our SBS.
