COL - EB - Information Officer, City of London Corporation

Dear Mr Wright,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 (FOIA) - INFORMATION REQUEST

The City of London (CoL) acknowledges receipt of your request for information of 24 December 2013.

Public authorities are required to respond to requests within the statutory timescale of 20 working days beginning from the first working day after they receive a request. The Act does not always require public authorities to disclose the information which they hold.

The FOIA applies to the CoL as a local authority, police authority and port health authority. The CoL is the local and police authority for the “Square Mile”, ie the historic City of London, and not for London as a whole. Please see the following link to a map on the CoL's website, which shows the area covered:
www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/maps/Pages/explo...<http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/maps/Page...>.
The CoL does have some functions, including Port Health Authority functions, which extend beyond the City boundary. For further information please see: www.cityoflondon.gov.uk<http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk>.

Dear Mr Wright

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

Following receipt of your request for information on the 23^rd December
2013 and our acknowledgement of the same day, the City of London (CoL)
responds as follows.

1. Do you currently have any shared services within Social Care with other
Local Authorities?

If yes, please state with who and in what areas e.g Children’s, Adults
etc…

We commission Hackney to provide our Emergency Duty Services for Children
and Adults and we are a part of the Safeguarding Board arrangements for
Children and Adults with Hackney.

We commission Tower Hamlets to provide our Youth Offending Service and we
also commission the Tower Hamlets Family Intervention Project to support
our Troubled Families work as part of our Children and Families Service.

2. Please describe your plans for joint working between Social Care and
Health.

We will be developing plans as part of the Better Care Fund (BCF).  A
proposal will be going to the City’s Health and Wellbeing Board at the end
of March 2014.  In the meantime, we are working with health colleagues in
neighbouring Health Trusts to support improved arrangements for discharge
arrangements.  These will be expanded upon as part of the BCF plan.

Please note that the City (the "Square Mile") has a resident population of
only about 7400 people.

If you wish to make a complaint about the way the CoL has handled your
enquiry, please make your complaint in writing to email address:
