Dear Metropolitan Police Service (MPS),

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)'s handling of my FOI request 'Sexual Offences Investigation Trained Officer teams Camden'.

In particular please review the response to Q2.

You state ( in effect) that there are no particular protocols or pathways to support vulnerable rape victims and direct to the document attached in response.

This toolkit doesnt even mention vulnerable victims of crime, let alone sexual abuse and rape victims who have a mental health condition.

Police are required to follow the Victims Code. Please confirm or otherwise exactly how this team does that.
There would be expected to be clear guidance issued given this is statutory guidance.

Furthermore, the CPS developed a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy but there is no reference at all to this.

Likewise there is no reference to CPS Rape Prosecution Policy and Guidance.

Neither is there any reference to the CPS specific guidance on vulnerable victims contained within "Rape cases - Police referral to the Crown Prosecution Service for early investigative and other advice'.

It would be reasonable to expect a team whose only job is to investigate rape and alleged sexual offences, to both be aware of the above BUT ALSO TO PRODUCE GUIDANCE USED LOCALLY pertaining to the above.

Furthermore, whilst safeguarding is referred to in a different question response there is NOTHING in the response addressing how vulnerable victims with a MH condition is addressed.

Separate to the above, and arising out of concerns triggered by the response, please advise EXACTLY where officers seek mental health advice to put in the care plan pathway the Victims Code requires, when the person is an alleged victim of a professional working in / employed by the local MH Trust.

Please confirm that agreement is in place , formal or otherwise, that it would be an obvious and significant conflict of interest for MPS rape team /SOIT to seek advice from MH professionals working in the same Trust the offence took place?

Presumably a protocol is in place where borough teams have access to setting up a safe supportive reporting pathway for victims via MH Trusts or organisations outside of local area?

Treat as a new FOI if needed.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Yours faithfully,

Alea
