Dear Thames Water,

It is my understanding that the authority is planning to undertake drainage surveys in the RH3 area starting 24th September 2018 lasting approximately 1 month. During this time you will be requesting external access to residents properties.

You have written to some residents in the area but not all and advised that the reason for this is that you are to carry out planned survey work. The work is to understand more about how flows in the sewers are influenced by rainfall.

There's a big issue here and that is environmentally this area floods regularly and in the 20years I have lived here your company has never taken any interest in the sewer system and how rainfall influences it.

Please can you confirm that Thames Water's sudden interest has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Charles Church has yet another planning application in with Mole Valley District Council to build on Tanners Meadow, which by the way spends most of the time under water as it is a natural attenuation pond as the land is clay?

How is your planned survey and computer modeling going to assist with the fact that the land is waterlogged and the EA see it as a flood plane and the sewer system can't cope with the rain water that enters the system at present, it fails now with water coming up out of the system in Tanners Court whenever there's heavy rain.

Dear Mrs Purser

I’m sorry you’ve had to write to us on 21 September 2018, regarding drain
surveys we’re undertaking in the RH3 area. I did try to call you but
unfortunately we don’t have a number for you.

Unfortunately, we’re unaware of any drain surveys taking place. But if you
could provide me with the full address and postcode of the area, or a copy
of the letter you’ve said some residents have received, then I’ll be able
to investigate this further. Please note, if I’m able to find some
information about surveys in this area, I may not be able to confirm why
they’re being carried out. This is due to the General Data Protection
Regulations (GDPR); I’m unable to give you any yourself without the
