Thank you for your request for the following information received on 30
January 2018; we have treated this as a Freedom of Information request,
please see our responses below:

 

Please state the number of residential homes owned by the Council and the
percentage owned by leaseholders.

 

13,809 total properties are managed by Barnet Homes, with 3,962 of them
leasehold (29%). Our stock listings will be updated at the end of this
financial year to reflect any changes.

 

Please state the method of apportioning service charges - whether by
number of units, square footage, rateable value or by any other method
for:

 

1.    General service charges – lease percentage which is based on
rateable value – so in theory if a block has 10 similar leaseholder
properties each will be charged a contribution of 1-tenth of the total
annual cost/s for works and services.

2.       Major works – major works are consulted upon and charged on an
ad hoc ‘as and when’ basis but the apportionment of the charges is as for
1. above.
