The BBC paid a total of £1,171,866 in car allowances to 216 people in Senior Manager car allowances (some of whom were not on SM grade) in the financial year to 31 March 2016, according to Freedom of Information request RFI20160991.
Please update the overall numbers for the financial year to 31 March 2017. Please also say how much News Division paid in car allowance, in total and broken down separately for Network News, English Regions, World Service (excl Monitoring) and Monitoring.
Please state additionally how many people on SM grades were not in receipt of the car allowance; how many people not on SM grades were in receipt of the car allowance; and whether car allowance has been awarded to any new recipients since the previous FoI.
Furthermore, in the 2016/17 financial year please say how many individuals had car allowance removed on taking up a new post and how they were recompensed; specifically, please confirm that none in this situation suffered a reduction in total remuneration.
