Senior management salaries

The request was successful.

Dear De Montfort University,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my query as specifically as possible.
I would like to know the yearly salary of the pro vice chancellor/s and how much that has increased since 2012, year-to-year.
I would be interested in any information held by your organization regarding my request. I understand that I do not have to specify files or documents and that it is the institution’s responsibility to provide the information I require. If you need further clarification, please contact me by email.
I would like to receive the information electronically.
If my request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you justify this by reference to specific exemptions of the Act. I will also expect you to release all non-exempt material. I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to charge excessive fees.
I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing/by email that you have received this request. I look forward to your response within 20 working days, as outlined by the statute.

Yours faithfully,

David Roberts

Freedom of Information, De Montfort University

Dear Mr Roberts,

Further to your request under the Freedom of Information Act dated 2nd of
July 2018, we confirm that we have previously received this request.
Please note our response to the same as follows:

Dear Mr Roberts,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000-INFORMATION REQUEST

Your request for information has been considered under the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and the information is below:

You requested the yearly salary of the pro vice chancellor/s and how much
that has increased since 2012, year-to-year.

The Information Commissioner’s Office states:

Data about the salary for a particular job may not, by itself, be personal
data. This data may be included in the advertisement for the job and will
not, in those circumstances, be personal data. However, where the same
salary details are linked to a name (for example, when the vacancy has
been filled and there is a single named individual in post), the salary
information about the job will be personal data ‘relating to’ the employee
in post.

In this case providing details of the salary of pro-vice chancellors would
enable the identification of individual names.  This would constitute a
breach of the Data Protection Act by the university. Therefore we cannot
comply with your request for this information.

Information is available on the DMU website ([1]http://dmu.ac.uk
<[2]http://dmu.ac.uk/> ) . The financial statements provide details of the
remuneration of higher paid staff excluding employer’s pension
contributions for the years 2012/2013 to 2016/2017.

If you have any queries, please do get in touch to discuss them further.
You might like to know that the University’s website
<[3]http://www.dmu.ac.uk> [4]www.dmu.ac.uk contains a section on the
Freedom of Information Act that lists other publications readily available
from the University under its Publication Scheme.
