SELECTED MEDICAL PRACTIONER and PMAB quality assurance
Dear Home Office, after reading a Judicial Review, Neutral Citation No:(2023) NIKB ref SCO 12059. It has come to light that the Police Pensions and Injury Benefits Directorate of NIPB under take quality assurance exercises in respect of ALL medical reports and Certificates produced by Selected Medical Practitioners (SMP)and Police Medical Appeal Boards (PMAB). This involves consideration of the reports against a check list which includes obvious errors, answering the correct medical questions, and using the correct guidance etc. It was noted a Dr VIVIAN's (SMP)reports etc identified inconsistences and concerns were raised over the process followed, this related to him using a home made guidance which was not HO approved and thus unlawful. Dr VIVIAN also works within the the rest of the UK as an SMP.
My Questions are
1/Does such a Directorate as as previously mentioned exist in the UK.
2/If so what is its name and who is in charge.
3/If the Directorate exists are quality assurance exercises as mentioned duly carried out.
4/Can i have access to the results of said quality assurance exercises, including the Dr involved and a record of their individual inconsistencies.
5/ The NIPB seem to be able to provide such information as you will see in the Judicial Review therefore if any quality assurance checks are made the data will no doubt be readily available. I am interested in ALL of the statistics if possible.
6/ Can you provide if the quality assurance is being undertaken at what point do the Doctors involved actions if inconsistent raise an alarm and what actions are taken to remedy this.
7/ I am interested in any papers or guidance that make up the legislation over any quality assurance.
Yours faithfully,
Dr JOHN YARDLEY
