Seismic Monitoring and Earthquake Regulation at Preston New Road Lancashire.

The request was successful.

Dear Oil and Gas Authority,

Please clarify whether the Cuadrilla fracking pause period enforced at Preston New Road Lancashire for exceeding the set limits under the TLS arrangements are the same irrespective of the strength of the siesmic activity in question?
Whether a 2.9 event is paused for the same as a 6.3 event for example?

Yours faithfully,

peter k. roberts.

Response received and being considered.

As yet I cannot find a reply to my question just irrelevant bumf which is actually quite interesting anyway.

I'm probably going to request them to actually answer the question I asked then follow up with a request for an Internal Review.

I suppose by the time I get a meaningful response to that we'll have found out anyway!

Dear OGA FOI requests,

Many thanks for your response to my information request.

I have read the content and attachment subsequently need you to answer in clear English my original question namely:

Please clarify whether the Cuadrilla fracking pause period enforced at Preston New Road Lancashire for exceeding the set limits under the TLS arrangements are the same irrespective of the strength of the seismic activity in question?
Whether a 2.9 event is paused for the same duration as a ,6.3 event for example?

I hope this explanation clarifies the information I am seeking.

Yours sincerely,

Peter K Roberts.

Have repeated my initial request.

OGA FOI requests, Oil and Gas Authority

Dear Mr Roberts,

Thank you for your email of 17 August, following our response to your FOI
request. I Apologise for the delay in responding.

Following the recent seismic events at the Preston New Road site,
including a 2.9ML event at 08:30am on 26 August, the OGA has written to
Cuadrilla on Friday 30 August requesting extensive data and analysis.

Once provided, this will assist the OGA’s full consideration of whether
the assumptions and mitigations in Cuadrilla’s PNR 2 Hydraulic Fracture
Plan continue to be appropriate to manage the risk of induced seismicity
at Preston New Road.

Cuadrilla’s consent for the hydraulic fracturing operations is dependent
on (among other things) the Hydraulic Fracture Plan continuing to be
appropriate to manage the risk of induced seismicity, and fracturing
operations would only resume if the OGA concluded that to be the case.

Yours sincerely
