Security industry authority training
Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Please confirm
It is no longer a requirement for local authority Community Patrol Officers to be trained in accordance with the security industry authority.
Can you confirm the date it was decided the officers no longer required an SIA badge.
Can you elaborate on the changes in their job role that meant an SIA badge or training was no longer required
Yours faithfully,
George blund
Dear Mr Blund
Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding to your recent
enquiry, in which you asked:
Please confirm It is no longer a requirement for local authority
Community Patrol Officers to be trained in accordance with the security
industry authority.
Can you confirm the date it was decided the officers no longer required
an SIA badge.
Can you elaborate on the changes in their job role that meant an SIA badge
or training was no longer required
Training is only required to obtain a licence. A licence is not required
when you are employed directly by a company that uses your services and
classified as working ‘in-house’. Our response to your questions is
therefore N/A.

Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,
Thank you for your reply. Could you please re read my questions and answer them accordingly. I realise that an s.i.a licence is not needed now, but it was a requirement and for many years. I would like appropriate answers to my questions.
Yours sincerely,
George blund
Dear Mr Blund
Please accept our apologies for the delay in providing you with a response
to your enquiry.
Your request posed 3 questions:
Please confirm It is no longer a requirement for local authority Community
Patrol Officers to be trained in accordance with the security industry
authority.
Can you confirm the date it was decided the officers no longer required
an SIA badge.
Can you elaborate on the changes in their job role that meant an SIA badge
or training was no longer required
In response to all 3 questions, we would advise that it has never been a
requirement for Community Patrol Officers to hold a SIA licence, as these
officers are employed directly by the organisation that use their security
services. We do however train the services Emergency Control Room Officers
up to the standard of SIA as they all hold a BllAB Level 2 Award for CCTV
Operators.
Yours sincerely

7) What training have the officers had to undergo? The
officers have undergone intensive training to help them prepare for their role in the community. Members of the
team also have a wealth of experience behind them from working in a range of relevant jobs and professions in
the past. All officers are SIA licensed and CRB checked.
