Mike Fawcett, Colchester Borough Council

Dear Mr Rowe

I am now able to respond to your Freedom of Information request logged on 6th November under reference 346316.

1. Can you please advise how many security cameras you are in control of across Colchester?

Colchester Borough Council currently controls 98 cameras in the Colchester Town Centre CCTV system.

2. Can you please tell me the number of those cameras that are turned on and used to record activity in the last year.

All cameras are normally in operation and recording constantly; in the course of the year some camera installations have required maintenance which has affected their operation for limited periods.

3. Can you tell me how many cameras are in the high street, and how many of those are turned on too?

Nine cameras are located in Colchester High Street and all of them are always recording.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this request please contact me again quoting the reference given above.

Yours sincerely
