Dear NHS Health Scotland,
I recently made a FOI request about sectioning, CTO's and eating disorders. By law, you should have responded promptly and the response time is now overdue. I would be very grateful if you could respond to my request as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully,

Rebecca Quinlan

Dear Ms Quinlan,
Information Request- Sectioning and Community Treatment Order statistics

I am writing with regard to your Freedom of Information request on 4 June 2016 that
was received by NHS Health Scotland on the next working day, in which you ask the
following:
"Can you please provide me with:
• The number of eating disorder patients detained in hospital under Section 3
Mental Health Act 1983 in each of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 in Scotland
= Number of eating disorder patients detained in hospital under s3 MHA 1983
who were discharged from hospital under a Community Treatment Order in
each of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, in Scotland

hospital in each of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 who had been detained under
s3 MHA 1983 at any time (including immediately prior to discharge) during
their stay in hospital"
Unfortunately we are unable to help you with your request. Although NHS Health
Scotland is a part of the NHS in Scotland, we do not provide health services directly
to the public and we have no role in monitoring or providing the information that you
are looking for. Our role is to work with a range of organisations including other NHS
Boards, local government, the third sector and employers to help them use
knowledge about what works to improve the health of people in Scotland. This link
describes the different organisations that make up the NHS in Scotland.
I'd like to assist you as much as I am able to, and therefore I suggest that you may
find it helpful to redirect your request to the 14 regional Health Boards for local area
information, and in this case details can be found here
http ://www.gov.scot/Topics/Heaith/N HS-Workforce/N HS-Boards
I trust that this answers your query. However, if for any reason you are not satisfied
with our response, you do have the right to ask the Chief Executive to review our
response. You should do this within 40 working days of receipt of this letter and in a
recordable format (letter, email, audio tape etc). The Chief Executive will consider
your query, consulting with others as necessary, and will respond to you within 20
working days.
I hope that this is of help to you.
Yours sincerely
" Oath Denholm
