Dear Ms Theis

Dear Doly Theis,

I am in receipt of your request sent to us on 7th July as set out below.

Dear Islington Borough Council, Can you please provide the information on
and where appropriate copies of relevant documents of: 1) What land for
allotments or growing spaces, both private and public, have you requested
in the last 5 years?

2) From the land requested in the last 5 years, what land has not been put
into use for your residents to grow on?

3) How many planning applications do you currently have which could be
used to make a Section 106 requirement for land to grow on?

4) What targets are in place to increase the use of Section 106 to provide
more land for your residents to grow on?

5) What is currently being done in your borough to provide alternative
land for residents to grow on? This is a request made pursuant to the
Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I can certainly tell you how many sites we have and how many plots we have
now and how that has been increased in the last five years, but in
questions 1 and 2, I would just like to clarify what you mean by the word
"requested".

Please can you let me know and I trust I will be able to give you a full
answer.

Many thanks,

Dear Good, Kit,

Thank you for getting back to me and i will of course clarify the term 'requested'.
I am referring to new land that is either to be developed or developed land that is to be redeveloped such as brownfield sites, which has the potential to include allotment/growing spaces. This allocation of the land could be provided by using Section 106.

I hope that makes my inquiry more understandable.

Yours sincerely,

Dolly

ISLINGTON COUNCIL: TECHNICAL ISSUE WITH RESPONDING TO WHATDOTHEYKNOW.COM
REQUESTS

A technical issue has been identified involving emails been sent by
Islington Council to whatdotheyknow.com. This occurred between April
and early August 2010. The emails were being sent successfully from the
council's network, but a technical setting on our email servers resulted
in the emails not being accepted by the whatdotheyknow.com site.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to these
requests. All the FOI requests received from whatdotheyknow.com during
this period are being re-checked and processed as necessary.

The council supports the objectives and ethos of the whatdotheyknow.com
site. [WhatDoTheyKnow contact email] has been very helpful and we have worked
closely with them to resolve this issue.

Once again I offer my apologies for the delay you have experienced in
receiving the information requested from the council.

Yours sincerely

Gutwin, Jerry, Islington Borough Council

Hello Ms Theis and Kit,

Firstly, sorry for the delay in this response, but I have just returned from leave. Thanks you for clarifying what you mean by requested. I am afraid however, that this is a question for Planning and not Greenspace. When I am made aware of potential allotment land, I certainly investigate if it is suitable but I do not get involved in the early stages of development or the S106 agreements.

Kit - please can you refer this to your contact in Planning.
