Dear Sir or Madam
Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Information Request - 001263/18
With regard to your Freedom of Information request received on 27 June
2018, please find our response below.
Please can you provide the following information for all of the secondary
schools and academies in your local authority area:
Name of school
Number of students on role
Number of students permanently excluded from each school, by academic year
group, in the following academic years
2014/15
2015/16
2016/17
2017/18 (year to date)
We are unable to provide the information requested above as not all
secondary schools and academies provide the local authority with exclusion
data therefore the figures would be inaccurate and misleading.
The information we do hold is withheld in accordance with Section 40 of
the Freedom of Information Act as we believe that to release the school
name, academic year group, the year of exclusion and the number of
exclusions could identify individuals when matched up with the information
published by the DfE. The Council cannot disclose personal information
where to do so would breach any of the data protection principles.
Statistics on exclusions at local authority level (but not broken down by
academic year group) are published by the DfE annually in July and relate
to the previous academic year. Please refer to the following link for the
latest statistics:
[1]https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics...
Statistics for 2017/18 academic year will be published in July 2019.
Number of students successfully completing managed moves from each school,
by academic year group, in the following academic years
2014/15
2015/16
2016/17
2017/18 (year to date)
The Council does not hold city-wide data for managed moves as most of them
are undertaken between the Academies without involvement of the Council.
We hope that you will be satisfied with our response and should you
require any further information then please do not hesitate to contact
us.
Should you wish to complain about our response in any way this must
initially be done by e-mailing [2][Hull City Council request email] or by
contacting us at The Information Governance Team, The Guildhall, Alfred
Gelder Street, Hull, HU1 2AA.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the internal review then you
may take your complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the
government body established to enforce the legislation.
