Second attempt for "Full list of Public Litter Bins both on our streets and on greenspaces"

Mark Gale made this Freedom of Information request to Merton Borough Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Waiting for an internal review by Merton Borough Council of their handling of this request.

Dear Merton Borough Council,

Further to my previous request "Full list of Public Litter Bins both on our streets and on greenspaces" I am asking for an accurate record this time without the Sutton Council branded bins located within the London Borough of Sutton, missing bins etc.

I also request that file included lat/lon, or eastings/northings so that your mistakes can be quickly eliminated as too much time has been wasted looking for bins in Merton that are in a different Borough!

Merton Council also has a history of removing bins, yet you have not removed them from the list so although publicly Merton Council has admitted to reducing bin numbers around half in a year, missing bins are listed on the spreadsheet.

One other area which needs to be checked is I believe "Amberol" bins are a missing worksheet from the spreadsheet. I am fully aware of every single bin within my ward of Ravensbury and such errors stand out like a sore thumb.

Can you also confirm the source of the data, my inquires to Veolia is they have no list (clearly from service levels I believe they haven't a clue where the bins are), and if the source is Merton Council why are they listing other Borough bins?

Yours faithfully,

Mark Gale

Dear foi,

I presume from your failure in responding, the London Borough of Merton does not have an accurate list of public litter bins within the borough - not including bins from other boroughs, not including removed bins (both of these were included within the original response).

Yours sincerely,

Mark Gale

Dear WSG Members,

Thank you John Bosley, Assistant Director, Public Space - Your response ONE YEAR + ONE WEEK is disappointing with the same inaccurate data including LONDON BOROUGH OF SUTTON BINS, and LONG TIME REMOVED BINS - while the list is pretty useless and explains why rubbish isn't collected properly when nobody actually knows where the bins are, one benefit is the new addition of the EASTING / NORTHING coordinates which makes it a lot easier for me to dismiss the many inaccuracies.

How does Merton Council get away with not answering questions within a timely manor, and data that they know to be inaccurate?

Yours sincerely,

Mark Gale
