Dear foi,

I asked for information about whether Water Fluoridation had been scrutinised by South Tyneside Council. I asked via FoI because I could find no trace of there having been a scrutiny and I needed to check that I was right. Giving me a link to a URL which is dead is not at all helpful.

In vain have I waited for the link you provided in your reply to become live. Today, I have finally lost my patience.

I agree that the first step is to interrogate your website BUT there is nothing on your website about scrutiny of water fluoridation. Therefore your refusal to confirm that there has been no scrutiny is not in accordance with FoI legislation.

A reply is required.

Yours sincerely,

Joy Warren

Dear South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Scrutiny of Water Fluoridation'.

On 27th April I wrote requesting more information: the URL provided in reply to my original request is a dead link. I am seeking confirmation that no scrutiny has been conducted into Water Fluoridation. I have not received an acknowledgement of my follow-up request. Surely it can't be that difficult to ask the Governance Services of the Council if the issue was sent to Scrutiny in order to confirm my original request. I find that the FoI officer has been unreasonable.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Yours faithfully,

Joy Warren

Dear Ms Warren,

Please accept our apologies for signposting you to information that you could not subsequently access. I have made additional enquiries and can advise that the Council has not managed or taken part in any Committee meetings where the issue of Water Fluoridation was officially scrutinised between 2015 and the date of your FoI request.

The Council does not hold any information relating to why scrutiny was not considered applicable to this issue.

If the Council does hold future meetings relating to this issue they will be added to our Committee pages on www.southtyneside.gov.uk
