Scottish Schools Parental Involvement Act 2006
Dear East Ayrshire Council,
I was hoping you could help me. I am looking for the strategy document setting out the authority's policies for parental involvement per the Act mentioned above.
In addition, I would like to know the budget set and provided to Lainshaw Primary School for the parent council and how does the council gain comfort that this budget adequately covers the administrative expenses such as hire of the meeting rooms on an annual basis?

I refer to your correspondence dated 8 November 2018 requesting information in relation to Scottish Schools Parental Involvement Act 2006.

We follow national guidance currently and are working to develop our own authority strategy.
East Ayrshire Council allocate Parent Council budgets to allow Parent Councils to pay for
• Clerk fees to support the parent council meetings
• Administration to cover the cost of photocopying, lets etc.
The clerk fees are based on either 4 hours support for 6 meetings per year or 6 hours clerical support for 4 meetings per year. It is at the discretion of the Chair of the Parent Council how often meetings take place.
The administration budget is based on the school roll and mainly covers costs associated with administering the meetings. Parent Councils usually meet in a building that is open at the time of their meeting to save incurring let fees.
Historically, this budget is underspent at Lainshaw Primary School therefore providing assurance that sufficient funding is allocated to the Parent Council.
