Dear University of the Highlands and Islands,

I would like to request the following information under FOISA:

How many students were admitted to your institution to begin studying an undergraduate degree in each of the last 6 academic years?

How many Scottish domiciled students were admitted to your institution to study an undergraduate degree in each of the last six academic years? I would like this information broken down by degree programme.

How many Scottish domiciled students from ‘Scotland’s most deprived backgrounds’ as defined by the Scottish Government’s widening access policy were admitted to your institution to study an undergraduate degree in each of the last 6 academic years? I would like this information broken down by degree programme.

If you require clarification please contact me promptly.

Yours faithfully,

elizabeth thomson

Dear Christine,

I wanted to send a further clarification based on a query I received from a different institution.

To be clear, I am only seeking information relating to the number of new students being admitted to an undergraduate degree programme. ie, whichever year they are entering at - as i realise some will start in year 1 and others may leapfrog into a higher year to begin with. I am not seeking info relating to continuing students going into 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year.

Many thanks,

elizabeth thomson

Dear FOI,

Many thanks for this information. When reviewing it i noticed that the total in table C (20% most deprived, Scottish domiciled entrants) exceeds the totals in Table B (total number of Scottish domiciled entrants). I just wanted to confirm whether the two have been mixed up, or the data is inaccurate?

Yours sincerely,

elizabeth thomson

Dear Elizabeth,

Our apologies, the datasets for tables B and C were simply the wrong way around.

The data has now been corrected, and we have re-run the report (export attached).

Please note that it's possible that the figures in the report may have changed due to data changes in SITS between when the report was previously run and today.

Kind regards,
Christine
