SCOOT controlled junctions in London

MJ Keane made this Freedom of Information request to Transport for London

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Transport for London,

Please provide a list of all SCOOT controlled junctions in London showing (1) name /location of junction (2) date SCOOT was installed and (3) whether SCOOT at each junction is currently operational.

I would also like some advice on what devices I might expect to see at a SCOOT controlled junction so that I can verify a sample of junctions.

If you are unable to provide the precise information requested then I would accept a near match. If actual dates are not known then planned date/month or something similar will suffice.

Yours faithfully,

MJ Keane

Dear MJ Keane

TfL Ref: FOI-1674-1617

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23
November 2016.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can
confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

Please provide a list of all SCOOT controlled junctions in London showing
(1) name /location of junction (2) date SCOOT was installed and (3)
whether SCOOT at each junction is currently operational.

There are approximately 4080 sites running SCOOT as of 28 November 2016.
There are approximately 405 sites either being set up for SCOOT, or are
part of an existing road development. Please find the attached list of
SCOOT controlled junctions.

Unfortunately, to provide and verify the information on when each site was
installed and the current operational status of each individual junction
would exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of
Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with a
request if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the
information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other
information would exceed the appropriate limit. This is calculated at £25
per hour for every hour spent on the activities described.

To help bring the cost of responding to your request within the £450
limit, you may wish to consider narrowing its scope so that we can more
easily locate, retrieve and extract the information you are seeking. For
example if there is a specific junction you are interested in, please let
us know and we will endeavour to provide you with the information.

I would also like some advice on what devices I might expect to see at a
SCOOT controlled junction so that I can verify a sample of junctions.

Please find the attached PDF which shows some examples of the type of
equipment that you could expect to find at a SCOOT controlled junction.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
